How to make a car using NFS:U2 ModTools?

This tutorial is made using trial version of 3DS Max Studio. First step is make a raw car model. Ready model don't have any materials and textures. It look like this:

NFS:U ModTools for NFS: Underground Example mod created using new tools that will be similar to released for NFS:Underground 2 game. At now this tools are under construcion phase.

NFS:U2 Geometry Compiler Usage

NFS:U2 Geometry Compiler creates geometry.bin from Wavefront .obj files. Also this tool supports ZModeler v1.x .z3d files. This files must be prepared into 3D editor not just downloaded from internet. Geometry parts must have only names supported by game. Parts that have invalid names will be invisible.

ModTools - Textures

In Need For Speed Underground to Undercover each car has textures stored into binary archive (TEXTURES.BIN). To create it from texture files use tool NFS Textures Compiler (released packages has compilers for specific game eg. NFS:U2/MW Texture Compiler for NFS: Underground 2 and NFS: Most Wanted).

NFS:U2 ModTools v1.0 Released

With the  NFS:U2 Geometry Compiler you can create a fully functional mods for NFS Underground 2. You can make all customizations for the cars: vinyls, decals, neons, engine styles, trunk layouts, trunk components, hoods styles, bumpers, side skirts, body kits, animation for trunk, doors, hoods - working. But it is possible to make a car without these futures. Conversion without customizing parts is much easier. NFS:U2/MW Texture Compiler  - it's a tool that allows to create a texture.bin file from .dds files. It supports NFS: Underground 2 & NFS: Most Wanted. DDS file must be compressed as DXT 1 or DXT3. Long names are also supported. NFS-DataEd for NFS: U2 - with this tool you can fix wheel positions for your addons cars and also you can assign 'Manufacturer logo' to your car. You can import exported files using NFS-CfgInstaller. You can provide NFS-CfgInstaller with your own mod package to allow install configuration data. Download the latest version here
